Successful remodeling requires design.
There must be careful planning from the beginning. Here are our tips on how to prepare for the initial visit and what to expect during the design phase.
Initial Remodel Consultation
You have finally decided to remodel! You cannot stand living in a room that is out of date and has half the storage you need.
How exciting! You’re ready to get started ASAP. So many ideas are probably spinning around in your head that it’s hard to sleep at night. By now, you have a stack of magazines with pictures tagged, images saved, and you’ve pinned every cool idea.
Our consultations are the best place to start. You’ll get a real feel of whether we are the best fit for you.
What To Expect
During this visit, you’ll get to show us the area to be remodeled. We’ll ask questions and listen to your concerns. Based on your needs and budget, we will give our recommendations.
Next, we will discuss how you can be prepared to discuss room issues, ideas, and budget. The key to the most successful consultation is preparation. So let’s begin! At your initial consultation, we will answer questions such as:
- How soon can we get started?
- How long will the job take?
- How much will it cost?
In order to accomplish this, we need you to be prepared. Prepare for your initial consultation, following a few recommendations. Collect all the pictures you’ve found that inspired you. Pinterest and Houzz are good sites to use for this. Search keywords on their sites to find a few photos of styles, colors, shapes, and home elements that you like.
They don’t have to be perfect; they simply need to represent something you like. We want to come prepared, too. Share your board with your designer one week before your scheduled consultation. Sometimes it’s hard to put into words what you like. This information will help us know what is important to you. Write or type out your concerns and problems that you would like solved in the room. Include a quick list of your priorities, your ideas to solve the issues.
Make sure all who are in the family and will be part of the remodeling process will be present for this initial visit. No matter how small or large your remodel will be, you must have a budget. Do your homework. Figure out how much you can afford to spend.

When Does the Design Phase Begin?
The design phase can begin right away! We will present you with a design contract based on your project, wants, and needs.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how affordable our design process is. Starting at just a few hundred dollars and up, it is an investment that will pay you back many times over in time and cost savings!
What Does the Design Phase Involve?
This phase is exciting and essential to your remodeling project.
A survey is taken of your existing structure and its condition. Building codes are researched when needed according to your build situation. Precise measurements and photos are taken to document and plan. Concepts are then drawn out. Sometimes, different trade specialists like plumbers and electricians will meet us at the property to discuss the work to be done.
The concepts are then re-created in 3D photorealistic images that are sent to you via email. We allow a few changes to come up with the final plan.
Design Approved!
You’ve approved the design plan. Based on the approved plan, we provide you with a remodel build proposal. Upon acceptance of the proposal, you can now schedule to build.
